22 Jul 2024 AltSchool Africa Partners with ayoba to Provide Free Software Engineering Training to Aspiring African Talent
AltSchool Africa has partnered with African super app ayoba to train African talent in Nigeria, Ghana, and South Africa to become software engineers at no cost.
Ayoba is the #1 innovative all-in-one super app revolutionizing communication & entertainment in the African continent. With over 35 million active users, the platform offers a communication suite and a robust content offering that includes music, channels, games and services.
This partnership is particularly beneficial to young Africans who are passionate about building a sustainable career in software engineering but have been unable to learn the requisite skills due to financial limitations. Applicants who meet the eligibility criteria for this free training program will have the option of choosing to learn either FrontEnd Engineering, BackEnd Engineering, or Cloud Engineering.
Commenting, Tomilola Tometi, Sales & Partnerships Executive at AltSchool Africa, said “this partnership marks a significant milestone in AltSchool Africa’s mission to bring its array of world-class learning programs and career development services to millions of Africans, equipping them with the tools they need to succeed”.
Tometi described ayoba as a groundbreaking platform with unique offerings and features reminiscent of AltSchool Africa’s approach to creating digital solutions for the continent’s many challenges in the education and employment sectors.
Shiela Yabo, ayoba’ Head of Ecosystem Development, said “we are thrilled to partner with AltSchool Africa to empower young Africans with the technical skills they need to thrive in the fast-growing tech space”. She added that “this initiative perfectly aligns with ayoba’s mission to bridge the digital divide and to support Africa’s digital future by development programs with key stakeholders in the African startup ecosystem”.
Earlier this year, AltSchool Africa was awarded full accreditation by global accreditation body, Accreditation Service for International Schools, Colleges and Universities (ASIC), signifying a bold checkmark on the learning platform’s curricula, systems, and processes.
AltSchool Africa has facilitated over 6 million hours of training for more than 60,000 learners from over 100 countries across its five schools: Engineering, Product, Data, Business, and Creative Economy. As of June 2024, close to 2,000 learners had graduated from its code and co-code diploma programs, with many already launching their careers as paid interns or full-time employees at startups and established companies within and beyond Africa.
